Job description
General duties and responsibilities of a Mid-Level Collections Analyst at Pineapple include, but are not limited to:
1. Collections MI Reporting & Analysis
Produce daily, weekly, and monthly Collections MI reports across key insurance metrics (e.g. Collection success, Mandate Numbers, etc.).
Design, maintain, and enhance Collections MI dashboards and scorecards for executives and operational stakeholders.
Perform trend, variance, and performance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
Support ad‑hoc analysis requests from finance, actuarial, underwriting, and operations teams.
2. Technical & Data Responsibilities
Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple sources, including:
Policy administration systems
Finance and general ledger systems
Data warehouses and SQL databases
Build and maintain SQL queries, data models, and automated data pipelines to improve reporting efficiency.
Ensure data accuracy, reconciliation, and integrity, aligning MI outputs with finance and Collection figures.
Assist with data quality controls, cleansing, and documentation.
3. Data Visualization & Storytelling
Develop clear, intuitive, and visually compelling dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar.
Translate financial and operational data into business‑friendly insights and commentary.
Present findings to non‑technical stakeholders, highlighting risks, opportunities, and drivers of performance.
4. Finance & Insurance Support
Support monthly financial and MI cycles, including reconciliation to financial results.
Partner with finance teams on budgeting, forecasting, and performance tracking.
Assist with regulatory, audit, or internal reporting requirements where required.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
Work closely with underwriting, claims, finance, actuarial, and IT teams to understand reporting needs.
Act as a trusted MI partner, providing insights that drive operational and financial improvements.
Contribute to MI process improvements and best‑practice reporting standards.
Job requirements
Required Education & Experience
3–6 years of experience in an MI, data analyst, or reporting role.
Proven experience within short‑term insurance or financial services.
Demonstrated track record of producing executive‑level MI and dashboards.
Preferred Education & Experience
Degree or diploma in:
Finance or
Data Science or
Information Systems
Professional exposure or coursework related to insurance, finance, or analytics is highly advantageous.
Technical Competencies
SQL (intermediate to advanced): querying, joins, CTEs, performance optimization.
Data visualization tools: Power BI (preferred), Tableau, or similar.
Advanced Excel: Power Query, Power Pivot, pivot tables, complex formulas.
Experience working with large, complex datasets and relational databases.
Solid understanding of ETL concepts and data modeling.
Financial and MI reporting experience in a short‑term insurance environment.
